Tine Thing Helset - an upcoming young trumpeter

Hi all. Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days. I've been away. However, now i'm back i thought i'd introduce you to a up-and-coming Norwegian trumpeter called Tine Thing Helset. I saw her on the Eurovision Young Musician of the Year competition the other night. She was playing the Hayden Concerto and it sounded brilliant. Unfortunately, i haven't been able to find out that much about her because all her biographic details are in Norwegian. I have managed to uncover that she is [appears to be] 17 years old, but if anyone has any more information please let me know. Remember, when she's a famous soloist you heard it here first!

HI!
I have had the great pleasure of actually meeting and listening to Tine a few times now (most resently performing Tomasi's trumpet concerto (!!) with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra this week), and she is in deed a wonderful performer.

By translating official sources in norwegian I can tell you that she was born in Aug. 1987, and is currently studying for a bachelor in music at the Barratt-Due institute in Oslo. She started playing the trumpet at age 7, and has since studied with the elite of norwegian trumpeters (Arnulf Naur Nilsen, Ole-Edvard Antonsen etc.). Tine does performances as a soloist as well as in chambermusic ensembles, and she is actively involved in brazzbands. Her repertoire consists of classical as well as contemporary pieces.

What is most striking about Tine is that she seems to be able to perform anything with the greatest simplicity (as you will notice watching her play Hayd at EYM). She is already a star!
