Alison Balsom at Symphony Hall

For any of you who don't know her already, this is young trumpet star Alison Balsom. Alison's obvious talents (in more ways than one I'm sure you'll agree!) have seen her shoot to fame since her appearance in the concerto final of BBC Young Musician of the Year, 1998. I have seen her in person at the Barber institute of Fine Arts in the University of Birmingham and I can can officially confirm that she is very impressive. Alison performs the Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto on the 19th February in Birmingham's Symphony Hall, accompanied by the CBSO Youth Orchestra under the batton of conductor Michael Seal. The evening's other highlights include: Britten's 'Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra' (Seal) and Elgar's 'Enigma Variations' (Sakari Oramo). If you're near it's going to be well worth it!
